The 1 Must Have Credit Card

Barclaycard Arrival

Barclaycard Arrival

With the rewards and miles game continually getting bigger and bigger, perhaps you are asking yourself “What is the 1 must have credit card for beginners to truly getting into the idea of earning rewards and free travel”  And while I can give you a million different answers, I will give you the direct answer. In my estimation, the best all around card for every day use is the Barclaycard Arrival.

Why is The Arrival Card a Must Have Credit Card?

Simplicity. As a beginner you are probably interested in the simplest way possible for you to comprehend the process. The Arrival card makes this practically thoughtless. There are no worries about using a different card for a different purpose. Or a credit card that offers might possibly offer more points in a different category of spend. (Groceries, Gas, Department Stores, Shopping, Travel Dining) The Arrival Card is consistent with everything!

No need to overthink anything! If I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, and someone were to tell me to “Get one card for this, get another card for this, and get a card for this too!” I would be completely confused and overwhelmed. And the truth is confused people do nothing.  So I would be totally missing out on the opportunity of practically free travel through credit card churning! And that, my friends would be a travesty 🙂 So let’s make this is a simple process so it is comprehended and understood in the beginning stages. And maybe, just maybe, you might decide to get a few more cards down the road.

How Does the Arrival Card Work?

To keep with the theme…..Simply.  All purchases, no matter what the purchase is receives 2x miles for every dollar spent. So a $100 purchase would receive 200 points. Then those points are redeemed by getting money credited back to your bill. You simply login to your Arrival card account, and click ‘Redeem Awards.’ Then depending on the amount of points you have, you get a certain amount of money credited back to your account.

If you use your points to credit a travel purchase you made you will also get a 10% miles rebate credited back to your account for you to use again. Talk about a perk 🙂 The nice thing about this card more then anything is the flexibility. Rather then having to choose just 1 airline to use your points for, or 1 hotel to use your points for, you can use any website or any company you want to book your travel. This gives you ultimate flexibility. Your points that you redeem go immediately to your cash back on your arrival credit card. It sounds a lot harder then it actually is.

If I Had 1 More Choice…

If for whatever reason you decide you want another all-around credit card, what would it be? It was be a close call for me. I would say it would be a tie between the Chase Ink Business Card or the Chase Sapphire Card.  They both have awesome, awesome perks. For travel purposes or dining expenses I would give the notch to Chase Sapphire. But if you have a business and have business expenses, the Chase Ink definitely gets the notch.

For more details about those two cards, I will post more in the future and why you should take a serious look at getting those two cards and adding them to your arsenal. Do you agree with my assessment on the Arrival card? Or do you give the notch to one of the other cards being the best all-around card? Post in the comments section below!
