Wondering what things to do in Prague for an upcoming trip? In just a few short weeks, my wife and I are going away for our 3rd anniversary! Deciding where we wanted to go was easy this year! I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go to Prague, and coupling that with seeing our friends a short distance away in Slovakia, it was a win-win!
Here is a summary of our trip:
- Two days in Prague
- Meeting our friends in Budapest for two days
- Spending four days in Bratislava, Slovakia
- Doing a day trip somewhere in between in Vienna
- Spending four days in Northern Italy with side trips in between
This post will focus on the first part of our trip, and that of course is Prague!
The point of these posts is for YOU to help us plan our trips so that we can enjoy our trips and get the most out of them!
What We Plan On Doing in Prague
Well one common denominator my wife and I both have is that we LOVE good food. So that will be one the main focuses of the majority of our trips and our reviews! Getting some really good, authentic Czech food is a priority in this case! In my researches it seems good Czech food generally consists of boiled and steamed veggies, meats with many all different types of sauces, and goulash.
I am really looking forward to getting some awesome pastries and desserts here in Prague as well! I know they have a lot of good french pastries as well as Strudels and other Eastern European delights!
If you have any suggestions on restaurants or bakeries, please let me know!!!
The other ‘must do’ thing we have to experience is good, authentic Czech beer. The one that seems to be the most popular is Pilsner Urquell Beer.
Some of the other main touristy things we want to see all of which seem to be within walking distance are:
- Prague Castle
- Charles Bridge
- Old Town Square
- Petrin Hill and Observation Tower
- Prague Astronomical Clock
Of course we want to do a lot of walking! We want to explore as much of the city on food, and enjoy the beauty and splendor of the city as much as we can! Hopefully we get great weather!
Where We Are Staying
The one thing I love about Eastern Europe in comparison with Western Europe is that hotels are MUCH cheaper. You can easily find a 5 star hotel for $100 or so. We took this opportunity to splurge and get an awesome 5 star hotel right in the Old Town part of Prague. The hotel we are choosing to stay at is the Hotel Kings Court. It looks glamorous and beautiful! Just the things we are looking for on an anniversary trip!
The other nice thing about Eastern Europe is they take very seriously their saunas and their hot springs! My wife is hoping to get the royal treatment. The best part about the “royal treatment” is that it costs a lot less in Eastern Europe then it does in the United States and Western Europe!
Final Words
We are ecstatic for our upcoming adventure in Prague. The only bummer being that we only have 2 full days here. We would have taken more time if we weren’t in the middle of a home renovation! If we love it as much as I think we will, a trip to Prague in the future certainly isn’t out of the question!
In the comments section below if you can please leave food and restaurant suggestions. Tips on where to go and what to see would be appreciated as well!
After I get back, I will post all my reviews and tips on all things Prague!
